For this meetup at Central Park I wanted to be neutral and since I have an obsession for oxfords right now I just HAD to wear these Franco Sarto ones. I'm not sure when my neutral/oxford craze is going to be over but I'm gonna ride this one till the wheels fall off. I'm also feeling button downs. I had to carry two bags because I took two sets of fabric for me and one extra person to sit on, ten bottles of chubby soda, my cosmetics purse, camera, tripod, book, etc.
TO NEW FRIENDS! From left: Aleah, Tania, Claudia, Me(& my big face) (everybody's skin looks flawless!)
This past Saturday I was out to brunch with my two friends Claudia & Aleah at Harlem Tavern. We were out to meet a new friend, Tania.
Harlem Tavern 2153 Frederick Douglass Blvd, New York, NY
While Claudia, Aleah & I were waiting for Tania to arrive we met DJ Fatman Scoop. He got in our business a little bit asking where we were from and then we took some pics. Funny dude indeed. Meting him made my day a little bit more exciting. Check out his t-shirt.
I had the Salmon Flatbread with a side of real bacon. Not no turkey bacon. -_-
Brunch done. Belly full.
I loved meeting Tania. She's a funny girl & I definitely wanna hang with her again. It was great seeing Aleah again after so many months. A little about the girls:
Aleah: is a makeup artist & owner/CEO of her very own makeup line Haviic Cosmetics.
Tania: is a TV producer, celebrity interviewer, emcee & all around entertainer. Check her out at Tania On The Scene.
Me: Well you know what I do but I'll say it again. I'm a handbag designer, seamstress & owner of Moruka Designs Handbags. :-)
After that Claudia & I roamed the streets of Harlem from Michaels to Yogurtland to Home Goods & back to Michaels till night fall. Because Claudia didn't want to go back in her house.
Claudia & her shenanagans.
Yummmm... I got like 5 different flavours together.

In my last post I did a recap of the Youtube Unplugged Concert which was in celebration of the first ever 2013 Youtube Music Awards. Now here's what I wore.
It's still Summer in my head so I wore this yellow striped shirt I bought in April to bring some sunshine into my life. I tied it with my dark thrifted jeans, dark blue blazer, brown ankle boots, and brown zipper clutch for a Fall look. NYC was a nice 71 degrees that day so I only had to wear my black leather jacket with no sweater layer. Awesome!! I finished off with the purple lippie that was giving me any and all kinds of life that day.
I snapped some photos of my outfit of the day real quick before I left. I'm pretty sure that was why I was late for the concert and missed Chescaleigh's performance(yes, I'm still mad about it). But I couldn't NOT take photos before I left. That would just be wrong. In hindsight, I should have dressed earlier.
A couple of weeks ago I had my Fall 2013 photo shoot in Central Park. I was supposed to have it during the Summer but things didn't work out. I'm so happy I waited though, because I was able to collaborate with some AMAZING ladies. My partners in crime for the day were Cyrience Creative Studios(photographer), Haviic Cosmetics(makeup artist & makeup line), and
This shoot featured two of my Fall clutches. I did two looks so there is going to be a part two to this next week. Aleah, owner Haviic Cosmetics did a wonderful job. I felt like such a Diva the whole time. It's amazing how some lipstick can pump up your confidence. Claudia's earrings are hot and Jennifer did an AMAZING job at capturing the essence of Moruka Designs. I've been working with her for almost a year and she never disappoints.
This look features the Essie Clutch on MorukaDesigns.com. I came up with the design on a whim, I had something else I was going to go with, and now it is the inspiration for my entire Fall line. What's great is that it is a clutch that can be worn year round. The contrast gives it a little bit of all four seasons.
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of showcasing Moruka Designs Handbags at C'est Magnifique Agency's Boston Fashion Week Fall 2013 Fashion Show. I was invited by CEO Shen Bennett who I met at Small Boutique Fashion Week at this past Fall 2013 NYFW. I traveled there all by my lonesome. I almost didn't go but my gut told me to back my bags and and hit the road. It was so worth it(although the muni-meter robbed me -_-), I did so much more than I thought I ever would. I even made a video about it when I was leaving home Saturday morning but it wouldn't upload so I had to do so when I got back home on Sunday.
For my scene it was a collaboration between myself and 3 other designers. I was also a vendor, got to pick which of my purses could go with the outfits, AND I got to walk at the end of the show with the models!! I wasn't even expecting that! I was so excited! That was my very first fashion show and it felt so awesome to walk at the end with the models so everyone could see the person behind Moruka Designs. I look forward to more shows.
WATCH OUT!! It's about to get pic heavy! Some photos were taken with my phone. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to tell the difference. All photos were provided by myself and C'est Magnifique Agency.
Backstage photos
All of the clutches on this table didn't make it onto the runway. I picked the onesthat went well with the clothing.
These 3 definitely made it onto the runway!
There were 10 shows and it took me about 6 of them to realize that there were twins on the runway. My show was the last one.
Photos from the vendor area.
My phone was too crappy to take runway photos. When I get my hands on some I'll be sure to do another post.
What in the world was I saying here? lol
Video footage from the entire event.
You can skip to the 5:53 area for my segment or
watch the whole thing if you like.
I think I was walking too fast but hey I was excited. -_-
I want to say Thank You to Shen, her models and the rest of her team for this opportunity.
Most of the clutches seen in this post can be found on MorukaDesigns.com. I will be uploading the rest in a couple of days.
