Wash Day 4/29/2012 Results
Here are the results from yesterday's wash. I like how my hair felt from that conditioner mix I made yesterday so I think I'll be using it again, it felt even softer than when I use the conditioner alone. Knowing me I'll get sidetracked and come up with something else to experiment with. I also experienced less shedding during my detangle thanks to the coffee rinse. Also, I really wanted to trim but I couldn't find the scissors so I'll have to buy new ones tomorrow. Figures this would happen when I really DO want to trim. /-: These pics were taken with my ipod. I wanted to do a length check but taking pics with an ipod is annoying/awkward enough. So without further a due, here's some hair porn!!!
After the conditioner washout
See? I need to trim. Those ends are crunchy.

Wash Day 4/29/2012
So I had a much needed, long awaited wash day after about 4, maybe 5 weeks?
1.) I shampooed with Peppermint Castile Soap[nice tingle];
2.) Coffee rinsed[caffeine found to reduce shedding]
3.) Applied Suave Professionals Humectant Conditioner & steamed for two hours;
3.) Rinsed, blow dried with IC Fantasis heat protector and PCJ kids moisturizer
4.) Braided for a braid out.

Coffee Rinse. How I do it, real Simple.
1.) One tbsp coffee grounds;
2.) About 3 or 4 ounces hot water
3.) Let it steep for a few minutes then strain
4.) Then add some cool water to stretch it and make it enough to rinse your hair with.
5.) When rinsing you can opt to rinse straight from the bowl or put the coffee rinse on a spray bottle and spritz your scalp.
6.) Apply conditioner and proceed with deep condition.
I also did a little conditioner concoction.
Recipe
1.) One tbsp Coconut Oil
2.) One tbsp Olive Oil
3.) Three tbsp Aloe Vera Juice
4.) Large goop of conditioner
5.) Mix well & apply.
6.) Let's see how this turns out.

So I've been thinking...

2.) I need to trim that darned inch off already. I'm so lazy.
3.) I need to wash and deep condition. The only thing saving my hair is the fact that it's in some plats that are covered with my wig so the ends are always protected.
4.) I want my waist length hair back. )-:
5.) I want a Heutiful Steamer so bad. I accept gifts. (-: Serious though. Just putting it out there.

6.) I just figured out how to stop biting my nails.
7.) I need to work on my edges more.
8.) I need to moisturize and seal more.
9.) I'm so used to drinking green smoothies that when I try to eat baby spinach, arugula, other other salad types they taste gross. I've yet to find something I can actually eat without gagging.
10.) I want a Mini Cooper.

2nd Article on Kinky Curly Coily Me
Hello Ladies. My second article was posted on Kinky Curly Coily Me on Tuesday titled, Effects of Vitamin & Iron Deficiency on Your Hair Growth. As you know, I have covered iron on here before and I'm still pretty much obsessed with it. I didn't know how deeply an iron deficiency could affect hair until recently. So read, enjoy tell me what you think. My hope is it helps someone. Read here.

Aloe Vera Juice...
and the case of the disappearing Single Strand Knots.
It's been 2 months & 11 days since I've been natural and ever since then I've been focused on eliminating single strand knots. I tried blow drying to stretch the hair but decided that depending on how often I'll be washing and the fact that I have heat damage, I might not want to rely on that. It did work somewhat but I needed another method which I found in aloe vera juice. I put some aloe vera juice in a 2oz spray bottle and proceeded to spritz my hair in small sections, work the juice in [which within seconds I could feel the single strand knots melting], add some moisturizer and more aloe vera juice, seal with oil and twist.
According to what I've read, the theory is that it balances the pH of the hair, laying the cuticles down. The sebum on the scalp is supposed to do this but the twists and turns in kinky hair prevent sebum from getting down the hair shaft. I will never go with out aloe vera juice. I wish I had done this before I permed again back in 2010 because these knots were really kicking my butt. I'm actually looking to make it at home, I went on a wild goose chase looking for the gallon I did find at Walmart. Whenever I can, I try to use aloe vera juice as a substitute or at least dilute it with water like putting it in my deep conditioner or replacing the water in my mud wash recipe with it, as I did also notice a reduction in my single strand knots with this.
Do you use Aloe Vera Juice?
What else do you use for your Single Strand Knots?

Iron supplement: Feroglobin
PIC
I talked about iron deficiency back in January and how I found out mine was really low, part of which included almost fainting on the number 5 train. How was I still standing? Since then I've been taking iron tablets over the counter. I bought this liquid iron supplement called feroglobin last week(which I also talked about in that post) it has only 10mg of iron along with some other vitamins that help to produce red blood cells. I took it today and all I can say is that it was a whhooooolllleee lot different than taking a 65mg iron tablet. I've taken feroglobin twice already and within minutes I feel this weird surge in my body like the liquid is getting through my body FAST. And because it's a liquid there are no fillers so I'm really feeling my body absorb all of this stuff. So yea. Ferroglobin is thebomb.com. I read that iron is better absorbed with vitamin C and that liquid iron is best absorbed on an empty stomach to ensure maximum absorption. Try it if you feel you need an iron supplement but nothing beats the advice of your doctor so try at your own risk.

I've been a bad girl :-/
I haven't been posting as often as I used to, which was 3 times a week. Now it's more like once a week. I started a new job and priorities have shifted. I'm sorry:-(. I can only muster up once a week for now till I can set a schedule that can allow me to post at least twice a week. I have so many posts in cue which include my new regimen and vitamins. Plus I have to trim my ends which I have in plaits while protective styling. Well that's all for now. Off to go to do some work. :-/
Oh and don't forget to enter my headband giveaway. It ends this Wednesday.

Easter Sunday Hair
So my hair came out to play today. I didn't do anything special, just ran some errands. I've been protective styling under a wig the last few weeks. I'm trying to get to arm pit length without a hitch ya'll. I had my hair in about 11 plaits under my wig then I un-braided them. At first it looked like a pathetic, crunchy, epically failed braid out but I was able to create this side swept style with some Scunci Effortless Beauty Side Hair Combs. I'd say I'm a type 4ab and I think I'm quite near armpit length but I need to trim an inch of splits and unevenness.
I should get it over with this week. I keep putting it off. I'm a bad girl.

Body Pump Diaries: Day 12
Wow it's been 12 days already. I've been busy looking for a job the last couple days and almost fell off my workout. I actually just finished pump challenge and hardcore abs a few minutes ago. I couldn't go to bed without doing my workout, that would have made it 2 days in a row with no workout. Because I missed Tuesday, I have designated that as my rest day instead of Friday so I could still complete all the workouts for the week(I may have to revisit this decision). Tomorrow I will be doing Flow(yoga).
It's only been a week and a half but I feel a little stronger already. I was not as tired as I was when I did these workouts last week. The hardcore abs was tiny but easier and I was able to do the chest presses with 5lb weights this time as I was just doing it with the bar initially. I have my personal 'back fat be gone' challenge but I'm gonna enter EbonyCPrincess' 'Bangin and Swangin Challenge' over at Longing 4 Length. My main concern is my love handles. I can deal with losing my butt to lose love handles. I can always get my butt back with weights and that's where Body Pump comes in.
TTFN dudettes.
