Product review: Olay Pro X Advanced Cleansing System

PIC

This review is long overdue. I must say that I was extra excited to see the ad for this product in a Fela playbill. At the time I was looking for an electric face brush that didn't cost a lot but would do a good job at cleansing my combination blackhead prone skin. I really had my heart set on the Clairsonic but couldn't justify paying $225, although I'm sure it's worth it to the people who bought it. I had previously owned an electric face brush. I actually still have it; the machine works but the brushes are broken, I can't find replacements, and it's very noisy. It's by a company called Jerdon. I paid $25 and I've had it four years and counting. Finding this Olay brush was a life saver because I almost gave into buying the Clairsonic. Upon seeing the ad I stalked Walgreens, Riteaid, and similar stores online and in person. I had to buy online from Walmart for about $33 including shipping.

Here are the specs:
Cleanses skin 6x better* and helps maximize the immediate hydrating effectiveness of your anti-aging moisturizer.
Leading dermatologists and Olay skin scientists have partnered to establish the Olay Professional Alliance. Through this partnership, Pro-X was created to bring you prescribed regimens to treat your specific skin care concerns.
Professionally Designed With The Following Features :
2-speed, rotating system delivers daily deep cleansing and gentle exfoliation.
Water resistant for use in the shower.
Replaceable soft bristle brush head (included). Refills available.
Pro-X Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser (sample included) recommended for daily exfoliation.
Cleansing brush can also be used with a broad range of Olay cleansers for daily deep cleansing.
2 AA batteries also included.

Results:
I loved it. It has only one brush, the bristles are very soft, it's very quiet, small, and thoroughly cleansing. I use whatever cleansers I have on hand as I'm trying to use up everything I have. I advise you not to use any kind of AHA cleanser with this system as your skin may become very sensitive due to the exfoliating properties of both the cleanser and the brush; just from my personal experience. I mostly use cetaphil to cleanse and so far I've noticed a reduction of whiteheads as opposed to manual cleansing.
It may not be the same quality as the Clairsonic or maybe it is. I don't know as I've never owned one but compared to what I've had before I'd say it's a tie in cleansing effectiveness. For a Beauty on a budget this is a good buy in my opinion due to cleansing ability, affordability and easy accessibility to replacement brushes. If it broke today I'd buy it again.

Restaurant Review: The Barrel - Sunday Brunch

DISCLAIMER: I AM IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM AFFILIATED WITH THE BARREL RESTAURANT.

I was out for brunch with a good friend, who was introducing me to The Barrel Restaurant in the East Village NYC.  The ambience is chic, classy, and casual, and it’s one of those places to me which looks pricey but actually isn’t. There is indoor and outdoor seating but that day was a little chilly so we opted for indoor seating. The inside looks like the inside of a barrel, and it’s not very big but not too small either.

On to the food.
You get eggs, a wine beverage like red sangria or a Bellini, a pot of tea, a green salad, a fruit salad, and hash browns with sweet peppers. I loved the presentation, and the fruits and veggies were fresh and tasty.

Looks good huh? It was. Every last bit of it. YUMMMMM. We had just come from watching a movie and were very hungry. I only had an apple for breakfast.

FYI: hair was a fresh washed, blown out, shrunken braid out gone terribly wrong.

I was NOT playing when I said I was hungry.

So to conclude, the food was delicious and the service was great. I was full but not stuffed and I felt good that the meal was healthy. It was a great balance with the fruits and veggies included. All for the great price of $11.95 plus tax and tip. I will definitely be returning. : )

Have you been here? I'd love to hear about the restaurants you love so I could to try some out.

REMIX!!! Hi Ya’ll

So I’ve been away for quite a while due to personal reasons and laziness. A lot has changed since last post in January; some good and some bad, but necessary change nonetheless. But I’m back and ready to do this all over again. I have also scrapped my previous posts and am ready to start fresh. When I first started I wasn’t sure as to what my content for this blog could possibly be. I tried to focus on just a few things but there is so much that’s going on with me that I’ve decided to  post about anything that’s interesting, which could include hair, my fellow bloggers, events I attend, sewing, nails, food, and anything else that comes to my head. Feel free to browse the recipes and links section. I welcome ideas, suggestions, questions and comments. Wish me luck.  : ))
