HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

So today is my birthday. That's right, 29 years ago on Tuesday November 20th, 1984 a child was born. A future blogger/designer. Who would have thought it? I figured for sure I'd become a lawyer, doctor, teacher, or accountant. Well that's what my family wanted and at one point I thought it was what I wanted as well.

3rd or 4th birthday. I didn't need a boy to cut my cake with.
I remember pushing him off the chair too. lol

In truth, if it were up to me I would have never gone to college at all. Not that its had, its just not my thing. I wanted to have my own business. I wanted to be like my Grandmother Evelyn. The woman who put the fight in me and Mom and talk us not to take crap from anyone. I love her and I miss her every day. She was a serial entrepreneur and a DIVA!

October 30th, 2001. 16, fresh out of high school & a
student of the University of Guyana. My then boyfriend surprised
me with a photo shoot. If I showed the rest of the outfit I'd be
committing fashion suicide.

At 29 I see myself getting closer to where I want to be and although things can be a little better, I am thankful for what I have accomplished in the 11 years I have been in the United States. I am thankful for life, health, strength and the people who love me. This particular birthday is particularly emotional for me. Not that I have never been thankful before but because I'm pushing 30! Ahhhh!! My age is gonna be off the almanac in 2 years! But getting older is a good thing, aye? It shows life and growth.
